10 Lords A-Leaping

COMMISSIONED BY THEATRE ROYAL, WINCHESTER AS PART OF WOOLLY HAT FAIR 2016

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUT 4 ZOO ANIMALS IN A TRAMPOLINE PARK TO MAKE A PIECE RESPONDING TO THE BRIEF '10 LORDS A-LEAPING' TO BE PERFORMED IN A BADMINTON COURT IN WINCHESTER...?

This. This happens. We were tasked with creating a site specific piece, in response to the theme '10 Lords A-Leaping', one of twelve arts responses as part of Woolly Hat Fair, commissioned by Theatre Royal, Winchester. We were given a bouncy AirTrack, a day in a trampoline park, a small costume and cast budget, and challenged with creating an immersive, interactive piece of theatre for family audiences.

We created a chaotic, playful, borderline political piece of clowning based, Drag King theatre. Associate artists Flo, Rosalind, Fleur and Charlotte donned their suits, their moustaches, and red and blue ties. Carnage and chaos ensued. Mariah Carey was blasted at full volume. Egg and spoon races were completed. One man in the audience nearly bounced headfirst off the AirTrack in his dedication to winning a political sack race. When they aren't busy settling 'The Big Debate' in parliament, these 4 party pooping, gender bending, playful politicians are available all year round, for outdoor festivals and cabaret events.

The Zoo team are proud to be approached for commission based work, and jump at the opportunity to create responsive, site specific, immersive work. Please do get in touch if you have something in mind.
